KROSSEYE

Yolk Bowl, Southern California

KROSSEYE are four skatepark kids from Southern California making sunny, scrappy skate-pop. The debut EP Sunny Side Up is out now. Never end on a bail.

Bio

Four girls, one skatepark, zero plans. Sunny and Roxi met in detention for skateboarding through the school hallway (Roxi was riding, Sunny was filming). JJ was the quiet kid who fixed everyone's boards behind the gas station and secretly made beats on a cracked laptop. Birdie was the classical piano prodigy who quit recitals the day she discovered you could plug a keyboard into a distortion pedal. The band formed the summer the city almost tore down Yolk Bowl, the crumbling, graffiti-covered skatepark where they all hung out. They played their first show off the back of Sunny's inherited 1974 VW bus (her name is Tang) to raise money to save the park. They saved it. The city repainted the big center bowl. The girls immediately painted it back, plus one thing: a giant yellow circle in the middle. Sunny side up. The name came from JJ. After a bad slam she got up dizzy and said "I'm seeing crossed... eyes... whatever," and Roxi laughed so hard she fell in the bowl. It stuck. The X's in the logo are the dizzy eyes. THE BAND ☀️ Sunny (Sunday Marlowe): lead vocals, rhythm guitar, chief optimist. Writes the choruses in a composition notebook held together with grip tape. Physically incapable of whispering. Cries at the bridge of Yesterdays Pants every single time. 🔥 Roxi (Roxana Delgado): drums, gang vocals, best skater, chaos on wheels. Hits the drums like they owe her money and hugs like she means it. Her drum throne is a milk crate and she refuses upgrades. 🖤 JJ (Juniper Kwon): bass, production, 808s, deadpan verses. Says ten words a day and eight of them become lyrics. Built the whole sound in a bedroom studio made of egg cartons. The silence at the end of Kickflip is on purpose. 🐦 Birdie (Bernadette Calloway): lead guitar, keys, high harmonies, secret weapon. Twelve years of classical training she refuses to admit to. Every pretty thing on the record is her. Whistles constantly. THE RULES (posted inside Tang) 1. Never end on a bail 2. Phones live in the glovebox 3. If the sun is out, we are out 4. Yesterdays pants are tomorrows shorts (nothing is wasted) 5. Whoever falls hardest picks the pizza toppings Fans call themselves the X-Eyes. Dizzy, but getting up. If you're reading this on your phone: touch sand.
